What Micro Drama Can Teach Changemakers
Welcome to The Narrative North Star — stories and signals for the future we are shaping. Each edition is a small invitation to pause, notice what is emerging, and turn insight into meaningful story. In this edition, I’m sharing a thought, a shift, or a tool to help you navigate storytelling, AI and human imagination with more clarity and heart.
Hello lovely changemakers,
Everyone is talking about shorter attention spans.
But I think that is only part of the story.
What formats like Micro Drama reveal is something much more interesting: people are still deeply willing to feel. They are still ready to connect. They are still hungry for tension, emotion, and meaning.
What has changed is this:
We have less time to earn their attention.
That is why Micro Drama fascinates me so much.
These ultra-short, smartphone-first stories do not work because they are short. They work because they are clear. They understand the emotional core of a moment and deliver it without hesitation.
And that is such an important lesson for all of us who want to communicate with purpose.
Whether you are a founder, educator, coach, filmmaker, or changemaker, the question is no longer simply:
What do I want to say?
The deeper question is:
What emotional truth will make someone stop, listen, and care?
That is where powerful storytelling begins.
Not with more words.
Not with more information.
But with more precision.
Micro Drama reminds us that clarity is not reduction.
Clarity is respect.
Respect for your audience’s time.
Respect for their attention.
Respect for the emotional journey you are inviting them into.
That is why I wrote this new blog post on Micro Drama and the new storytelling language of the smartphone age.
In it, I explore why this format matters, what makes it work, and what changemakers can learn from it when creating stories, videos, and digital content that truly connect.

At Digital Dolphins, this is exactly what we explore together: how to create stories that are emotionally resonant, strategically clear, and ready for the digital world we actually live in.
And yes — that includes learning how to work with new tools and formats, including AI, without losing your authenticity.
If you want to tell stories that make waves, join the Digital Dolphins Membership.
It is where changemakers come together to learn, create, and support each other in building purposeful communication that connects.
Thank you for reading The Narrative North Star.
Until next time, may these stories and signals support you in seeing more clearly, creating more consciously, and shaping the future with intention.
With warmth,
Bettina
